2019 MX-5: The New Mazda Sports Car

The Miata MX5 is undoubtedly one of the most widely popular and best-selling roadsters for its striking poise demonstrating near 50-50 balance through intricate weight distribution, superb handling due to this, more engineering precision on its frame and chassis to keep it light yet strong and attractive design hues both inside and out. Moreno Valley Mazda being our favorite place to get more information and an inside look at Mazda’s was visited to know more about the 2019 MX-5 – the new Mazda sports car.

Sculpted Refinement on the Outside

The curvy, sculpted exteriors of the MX-5 give it a highly refined look yet retaining its sporty profile. Coming in 3 well defined trims, the Sport, Club and Grand Touring, the MX-5 comes with some unique enhancements with each level. The Sport trim features 16-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lights, LED headlights, a black cloth convertible top and glass rear window with defogger. The Club goes a notch higher providing 17-inch allow wheels in metallic black finish and aerodynamic refinement such as a Black Front Air Dam and Black rear lip spoiler for better downforce. Wheels go Dark Silver on the Grand Touring and you now get Auto on/off headlights, rain sensing wipers, an auto-dimming driver’s side mirror and body colored, power, heated side mirrors.

Limitless Interiors

The compact yet well-defined interiors blend comfort, elegance, luxury and connectivity all into one neat package. The 2-seater MX-5 comes with a Black Cloth-trimmed seats with red-accents on the upper two trims. Sport Tan Leather or Auburn Nappa Leather can be added for extra luxury. Standard across the trims is the Black Cloth Convertible Top but you have a Brown version available and both when down give you unlimited head room and connectivity with nature. Another relief is having the Mazda Advanced Key Entry and Start System and a 7-inch full-color touch screen as standard across the trims. The Club ups the ante with heated seats that have three heat settings and the GT goes further to add Adaptive Front-lighting System and Automatic Climate Control.

Seamless Infotainment

You attain sheer elevation as you indulge in the seamless connectivity through the MAZDA CONNECT Infotainment System, a multi-function commander control to browse through the display, voice command capability, Bluetooth handsfree phone and audio capability, messaging capability and entertainment doled out through a six-speaker audio system. The Club onwards you get no less than the 9-speake Bose Audio with AudioPilot. The GT goes higher to provide a Mazda Navigation System.

Sport Tuned Engines and Performance

Sport tuned performance is something that comes out of the box in the 2019 MX-5 we learnt at the Moreno Valley Mazda dealership. All the MX-5’s come with a 2.0L DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder SKYACTIV-G2 engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) that delivers a steady 181 horsepower. You get a choice of a 6-speed sport automatic with Paddle Shifters or a 6-speed SKYACTIV-MT Manual transmission. The Automatic boasts of a EPA estimated 26 mpg (City) and 35 mpg (Highway) mileage while the Manual is noted to deliver a 26 mpg (City) and 34 mpg (Highway) which is just a notch below.
